Made by the Sea: Tobermory is a fascinating big screen presentation of life on Scotland’s coasts and seas with a unique selection of archive films of Scotland and the Tobermory area held in the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive and Mull Museum Tobermory.

From films of the high drama faced by brave lifeboat crews to the significance of marine industries and tourism, the sea has an important part to play in our national moving image collection. Curator Shona Thomson presents films of Scottish coastal life from as early as 1908 alongside a tourist’s guide to Tobermory and highlights of the Tobermory 200 celebrations in 1988. The screening will be followed by an informal blether with special guests connected to the films.

On tour across Scotland, Made by the Sea is part of the BFI Britain on Film project, making thousands of newly digitised film and TV titles from archives across the UK available to view online.  Event duration: 90 minutes approx.
